EIZO Announces Tyton VS2X SWaP-Efficient Rugged H.265 (HEVC) Video Encoder with Four 3G-SDI or Composite TV Inputs

Tyton VS2X
  • Tyton VS2X is a powerful H.265 (HEVC) / H.264 video encoding and streaming solution designed for airborne ISR and ground surveillance applications

  • Fully ruggedized LRU (1.25 kg) is designed to comply with MIL-STD-810F, MIL-STD-461F, and DO-160 standards

Altamonte Springs, Florida, October 4, 2017 – EIZO Rugged Solutions Inc. has introduced the Tyton VS2X – a powerful SWaP-efficient box-level H.265 (HEVC) / H.264 video encoding and streaming solution with four 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, SDI or composite TV channels. Composite TV can support NTSC, PAL or SECAM. Other video formats, including DVI and DisplayPort, are also available as options within the Tyton family of products.

The Tyton VS2X encodes and streams four video inputs simultaneously. Each input can be software configured and routed to any of the product’s eight dynamic encoding cores for H.265 (HEVC) or H.264 encoding. The product has hardware implementation for metadata insertion from various sources. This configurability allows seamless upgrades to existing platforms while truly future-proofing where installations may look to utilize H.265 in the future.

The 1.25 kg Tyton VS2X line-replaceable unit (LRU) is fully ruggedized to resist shock, vibration, humidity and dust as well as operate at temperatures from -40°C to 85°C. It complies with MIL-STD-810F, MIL-STD-461F, DO-160, and IP67 standards and is targeted at mission-critical airborne ISR and naval/land surveillance.

The LRU is operating system-independent, hardware agnostic, stand-alone, and highly efficient with low power consumption (15W maximum). All configuration and other communication with the Tyton VS2X is over the 1Gbps Ethernet connection using SNMP, allowing any operating system to integrate securely with the unit.

Selwyn L. Henriques, president and CEO of EIZO Rugged Solutions, commented, “The Tyton VS2X builds upon the previously released Tyton VS2, which was the defense industry’s first box-level fully rugged H.265 video encoder, with support for up to 4 inputs and multiple video formats. The new product offers versatility and configurability like no other in the industry, with potential reach into several new markets.”

The Tyton VS2X features a hardware implementation of CoT (Cursor on Target) and KLV (Key Length Value) metadata insertion. Control of encoding settings and retrieval of Tyton VS2X health information are all performed using an API built around SNMP for simple and secure communication. The Tyton VS2X is also available with a USB interface as an option for applications where external local recording of video is required.
